Project Summary

Description

The OPAC Grand Lyon continues the conversion of the Darnaise area that is composed of 11 towers of 17 floors built in 1970, and makes their tenants eco-citizens. In the framework of its area restoration in order to increase its attractivity, CSTS systems answered to the environmental and social targets of the public office. It was the most important solar operation in France at its starting-up, composed of 730 sqm, shared in three sections realised on three years. For the moment, just the first one composed of five towers is running and detailed here. It represents 344 sqm of collectors for a storage of 19,000 litres.

Summary

The first section of this operation was realised on five towers. The CSTS is running since August 2005 and represents 344 sqm of collectors installed on flat roof and shared in three substations for a total solar storage of 19,000 litres. The flat plate collectors are facing south for an inclination of 45°.

Introduction

Total investment for solar installation of the first section of the global operation is of 398,000 € excluding VAT.
It was financed at 35 % by the ADEME, 26 % by the Regional Council and 39 % by the OPAC/EDF/State/PALULOS.

Development & experiences

Summary of experiences / Notices to the project performance

CSTS installations answer to environmental and social targets of the organism. Moreover, the brand picture of the area gradually improves with the help of the CSTS. This project was studied at the same time with the elaboration of the building technical improving operation by the city of Venissieux and the organism’s management has decided to validate this project and insert it in the restoration program initially planned.
