Sports centre | 676 sqm installation
| |
Description This plant was installed in the framework of the "Comune Solarizzato" project, thus benefitting from a public financial contribution. Playa is the major sport centre in the city and hosts a lot of different sport events. The solar plant described here provides heat for the swimming pools, while a smaller solar plant (about 100 m² with a 4,000 l tank) heats up tap water. All in all, 302 solar collectors with selective coating have been installed, with a total gross area of 676 m².

| "The municipal energy plan, which I have contributed to develop, foresees following priority objectives: 1. reduction of energy consumption 2. reduction of emissions 3. use of renewable energy sources 4. reduction of operation costs 5. creation of new jobs for application of law 10/91 and thermal plants verification 6. creation of small networks of installing and maintenance enterprises
Thanks to the "Comune Solarizzato" program, which was financed by the Ministries of Environment and work, we were able to reach a lot of objectives foreseen in the municipal energy plan, including reduction of operation costs. Small enterprises networks have been created and industrial production of solar thermal components has been enhanced during the project. Besides, the solar thermal technology has been promoted towards the citizens, particularly in schools, kindergartens and sport centres."

Introduction The Italian Ministry of Environment provided 50 % of the investment costs in the framework of a program called "Comune Solarizzato". Aim of this program was to enhance technological innovation in some regions of Italy. Municipalities were supposed to be the main actors, thus introducing new cultural changes in citizens' lifestyle.
