Summary

The municipality of Valdisotto, located in northern Italy, decided to finance a study on the municipal building stock to identify the most suitable buildings for solar thermal installations. One of the local schools, which gym is opened the whole year, is a proper target for a solar thermal plant.
The assessment shows that a 16 kWth system would cover 60 % of the fuel demand, thus reducing CO2 emissions by over five tons every year.
A national subsidy program for local authorities may co-finance the investment by 30 %, thus leading to a lower energy price than purchasing conventional fuel.
