Project Summary

Social housing association Stichting Christelijke Woningcorporatie (SCW) realised a 132 m2 semi-collective solar thermal system on the roof of the Batauwe complex which is a new apartment building incorporating a renovated old building façade from a former jam factory (1916). The complex is part of new housing area with 500 dwellings built.
The total collector area is split-up in 11 solar systems with collective collector fields for three or four apartments. Each apartment has its own individual buffer storage linked in a network to the collective collector field. Serial as well as parallel networks have been tested within the project.
The specific system developed by Daalderop offers a solar thermal solution for apartment buildings with individual hot tap water systems, for which a large potential exists throughout the EU.

Paul Mol, export manager:

"As Daalderop we developed a solar thermal solution for apartment buildings with individual hot tap water systems. During the Batauwe project useful experiences have been gained regarding the optimal lay-out and installation. For Daalderop these experiences form the basis for developing further export activities in Southern-Europe for this system type."
